I contacted Michael Montgomery, owner of M.W.M Construction Company regarding house renovations. I learned about MWM through his advertisement in the Clipper Magazine, so I assumed it was a reputable company. I scheduled an early morning appointment with Michael for 14 Oct. 15 at 8:00 am., to discuss the potential renovation. Michael never showed up for this appointment. I followed up with another call to him and reminded him of the appointment, he stated he had forgotten the appointment. He was very apologetic and rescheduled the appointment for 29 Oct. 15 at 8:00 am. He did show up this time with his son, and we discussed the work I wanted done. Michael took some photographs and measurements. Some of the renovation would require removing several walls, and Michael indicated that he would have to determine if those walls were low bearing. I informed him that I had the original house plans. Michael stated that is great, he would review the plans to determine if the walls were low bearing. He also said he would call me within a week with an estimate. He left my house that day with the complete set of house plans. I expected a call within a week—sometime around 2-6 Nov. 2015. I never heard back from Michael, so I called him early Dec. 15. Michael claimed he emailed the estimate to me. I never received his email. He told me he would contact me that evening with the estimate. He never called. The next day I called him and requested that he return the plans. Michael said he was in Wilmington that particular day and could not return them that day. I agreed to call him on 7 Dec. to coordinate a time, date, and location to meet him to pick up the plans. I called him on the 7th Dec. and numerous times thereafter during the week, and left messages. He never called back. I asked my daughter to call him as well, and she could not get in contact with him. At this point, I knew something was wrong and he was trying to avoid me. Next, I asked my sister to call him from an 814 area code and he answered the phone. My sister informed him that I had called him numerous times and I just wanted my house plans returned. Michael told my sister that his wife had done something with the plans and he could not find them. He also said he would call me. After several days had passed and I did not receive a call from him, I called him again on 19 Dec. 15 and this time he answered the phone. I asked him to return my house plans or compensate me for them. Michael apologized and stated that he was not going to compensate me for MY HOUSE PLANS, which he claimed he does not know what his wife did with MY house plans. I advised Michael that I am going to sue him in court. I have already contacted the Attorney General, BBB, and filed a complaint in court.
